Marlon FS used to make kitchen splashback

4mm clear Marlon FS polycarbonate was transformed into this attractive kitchen splashback by Peerless Plastics and Coatings by printing the substrate with a marble effect then coating it with its hard, abrasion resistant coating, MicroGuard™ anti-viral hard coat.

Requirements:

  • Able to be printed and coated
  • Easy to cut
  • Lightweight
  • Impact resistance
  • Chemical resistance
  • Abrasion resistance

In order to demonstrate how easily Marlon FS can be fabricated, Brett Martin and Peerless Plastics and Coatings collaborated to produce a number of 1m2 samples with printed effects and coatings. When the samples arrived back at Brett Martin’s Northern Ireland HQ, the potential for using one of the samples as an attractive splashback was immediately obvious. It was cut to size and bonded to what had previously been just a painted wall.

The splash back now provides an added decorative effect at the same time as being much easier to keep clean than the painted wall had been.
