Marlon FSX walkway fit for a Queen

8mm Clear Marlon FSX flat polycarbonate sheet was supplied to glaze the new 90m long walkway at Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC), Nottingham. The bridge links the main hospital to the Queen’s Medical Centre tram stop which is the first dedicated hospital tram stop to be built in the UK, significantly improving access for patients, visitors and staff.

Requirements:

  • Lightweight
  • Strength
  • UV protection
  • Able to be cold curved

A total of 90 sheets at almost 5m long were supplied and cold curved on-site. Marlon FSX is 200 times stronger than glass and only half the weight. The ability to cold curve the sheets on-site makes them ideal for covered walkways.

Marlon FSX sheets are co-extruded with UV protection on both sides which acts to filter out harmful UV rays of the sun protecting the sheet from the effects of weathering.
